media installation: video projection, camera obscura, surround sound
The work is a three-part media installation consisting of video projection, a light installation based on camera obscura, and multichannel sound. In the installation, the visitor proceeds through different spaces, experiencing shifting perspectives and sensory contrasts. The starting point for the work has been site-specific and, in particular, an interest in changing environments and passing moments.
The piece explores the differences between audio and visual perception on different scales, examining how light and sound shape our experience of space and time. Camera obscuras placed in the dark space can be experienced and viewed from multiple angles, offering fleeting perpection of the urban surroundings. In one of the dark rooms, a multichannel sound piece resonates with the structures of a building that is set to be demolished, amplifying the fragility and temporality of that specific architectural space. Through these elements, the installation invites the viewer to engage with transitions, impermanence, and the ways in which perception is constructed.
